Rangers U18s triumph, our U15s draw and a loss for our Priaulx side

The weekend started with a packed KGV to see Rovers beat our Priaulx team 0 - 4. With nine U18s in the squad and injuries to some key players it was always going to be a tough day. Sam Green continues to be a standout for Rangers at this level and Steve Renouf is a reliable creator but Rangers struggled to breakdown a resilient Rovers. The Priaulx team always look a threat with Shane Billien and Steff Timms driving the team forward but the attack struggled against an experienced Rovers back line. Leon Solano, (Island and Rangers U18) is starting to demonstrate why his coaches have such faith with a mature performance for the Priaulx side.

On Sunday our exciting U18 squad found their Rovers counterparts a frustration. Rovers physical intimidation flustered our young stars but soon they gathered their composure and manged the game with much the better football.

Zac Batiste was the standout again, working his socks off to help his side, leading by example and getting his name on the scoresheet. All this after playing a game of Priaulx football the day before. At the back, the quartet of Josh Fallaize (who turned out for the Priaulx the day before), building a good relationship with Callum Simmons at centre back with Joe Tempest and Monty Wyatt proving reliable both in defense and bringing the ball forward. The boys ran out 3-2 winners and now look forward to tougher tests in the cup on Thursday at Northfield.

A big positive this weekend was to see U18 and Priaulx stalwart Harry Tester back playing after a long stretch on the sidelines with injury. The backbone of both sides, Harry played some minutes in the Priaulx on Saturday and was part of the U18 squad on Sunday. As he regains fitness there will no doubt be a clamour for him to join up with the U18s island squad as the Muratti approaches.

Finally, a big up for our U14s who drew with Saints in an U15 league clash.
