Last season: 6th
They finished sixth in the league last season, winning just two games all season and finishing three points above closest rivals Bels. Head coach Charlie Pinsard said that this season his focus was on being able to compete with every team and for his players to show more character on the pitch.
‘What I want to see more is us having more character on the pitch, especially later in the games, and that is as a group, not individuals,’ he said.
‘We need to be stronger as a group and have a bit more belief in ourselves, whether we are 1-0 up or 1-0 down.’
The Rangers head coach added that he had no specific targets for the season.
‘I just want us to be able to compete with every club, I’m not going to put a target on any club in particular.’
Pinsard came in as head coach last season as Rangers suffered a significant loss of players. He said his aim was to rebuild and that is something he has continued to focus on over the summer.
‘Last season was a challenge, getting the squad together was s focus and we did that. We have signed 12 or 13 new players this summer which has helped ahead of starting the season. We have been busy,’ said Pinsard.
As he looks to compete more, Pinsard said that there are players old and new to look out for this season.
‘We have a young centre back Trey Spruce who is really good and then a few of the players we have had for a while like Janick Radford – they are some of the players to watch out for this season,’ he said.
Rangers have their first league game of the season on Saturday 30 August against Sylvans at St Peter's.
