Colin Fallaize, Island boss for a long spell in the 1990s, is joining the island’s oldest club to take charge of the U16s at Rangers.

After several seasons developing a successful age-group side at Northerners, he has chosen to take on a new challenge which he relishes undertaking.
He can’t wait to get going.

‘Rangers are building very strong foundations. I have been impressed with everything they are doing to make the club successful on and off the field,he said.
‘I have spent the past eight years at Northfield developing a great group of young players. Moving on was not a decision I made lightly. But Rangers are establishing the kind of set up which any coach would want to be part of, not least the best training and playing facilities in the island.

‘It’s probably 30 or 40 years since I have seen a club building a structure in this way. That is why I couldn’t turn down this opportunity to lead the club’s under-16 team and I’m looking forward to being part of an exciting new chapter in the club’s history.’

Rangers’ new director of football Rob Batiste said that along with Andy Simon also joining the club’s U18s coaching team as an assistant to Shane Burtenshaw, Fallaize’s arrival is the final piece of the coaching jigsaw which they believe will underpin a surge in the club’s fortunes.

‘We have an exciting group of young lads coming through the ranks and to have Colin’s much-proven coaching expertise to oversee a key age-group, is a very pleasing prospect,’ said the director of football.

‘Colin is someone who sets high standards and his work in recent seasons at Northfield has demonstrated he remains one of the island’s most progressive coaches of good and winning football,’ he added.

Jono Robilliard, the Rangers president, is delighted to have another quality football man at his club’s disposal in the former Island manager and pleased to see Andy Simon, who had previously worked successfully with Rangers youth sides, returning in that role.

‘We are determined to get this rebuild right and good coaching is imperative to that.
‘I know Colin has huge enthusiasm for the role he is undertaking and is pure quality in terms of coaching with the high standards we are seeking.’
