RANGERS U18s were back on top of their league for just a couple of hours after putting eight past struggling Vale Rec at KGV on Sunday.
Zac Batiste (four) and George Goubert (three) led the rout and Charlie Le Prevost grabbed the other in a game which saw the home side register four goals in each half.
Batiste’s fourth goal was a rare header on his part, with a good climb and strong contact from Pearce Le Poidevin’s right wing corner.
The win put us top until Sylvans beat Rovers 5-1 in the later kick off to push back ahead by a single point.
Rangers collected the easiest of three points in Railway Two when St Martin’s failed to raise a team for the scheduled afternoon game at St Andrew's.
RANGERS’ old boys are right in the thick of the Veterans League title race after spring a first defeat of the campaign on the Northerners ‘allstars’.
The 2-0 win with goals from Joe Clatworthy and the excellent Shingai Mutambo makes it five wins from six for the O35s, a similar record to their beaten opponents who only stay top by virtue of a better goal difference.
